Dear Comrades,
One hundred and fifty years ago, American working class declared 1st May 1886 as a deadline for implementing 8 hour work a day. Ever since, the struggle for social change is going on.. Every year we remember those comrades who have sacrificed their lives and resolve to put an end to the system of exploitation and strive for a better and healthier society for us and for our future generations.
The Capitalistic system is passing through its worst ever crisis - of its own creation - global warming, nuclear proliferation, wars in Afganistan, Iraq, and Libiya. Climate change is threatening our biological existence. The system is producing a global food crisis. Countless millions are suffering while a few are plundering the billions of national wealth. Precious natural resources are squandered away to wage wars around the world. It is hard to imagine a bleaker situation than the current one.
In the Capitalistic world order the profit is the driving force of the economy. Neo-liberalism turns Nature from common resource to profit making commodity. In the present market driven economy the speculator sells what he does not even possess. The System is based on a pack of lies. Capitalism’s Hero is selfish individual who has no idea of what he is doing and how much damage he is causing to the Nature and to the future generations in the pursuit of his greed/selfish ends. Capitalism destroys human beings: reduces them to a disposable commodities. Can we imagine that the wars are waged for capturing the sources of raw materials and to create markets? Or for what else the war of Iraq was fought. The war escalated the oil prices and entire population world over has been burdened. The migration of humanity, the pollution, the destruction of wealth and natural resources, the human tragedy, the radiation hazard for generations together are the burden of humanity caused by war. But unmindful of all these, the greedy system driven by profit goes to any extent and takes the world to the brink of extinction.
In spite of enormous growth in the productive capacity of the working class, the general quality of life has not improved. In fact it is deteriorated. The plight of unemployed due to the global crisis is gravely affecting all categories of labour in all countries speaks loud enough for that. The all round degradation in the values is the hall mark of the present system in which we are living. In our own country we are witnessing the unfathomable scams, unhindered loot of the mineral wealth by the mining mafia, grabbing of lakhs of acres of land by the land sharks have plagued the country because these are the inbuilt vices of the model of the economy which we are proud of adopting!
Social relations of production should be directed not by search for profits but by the genuine needs of people and requirements of the socio-ecological sustainability. In this respect the irresponsible behavior of global capital is proved beyond reasonable doubt. The system that operates in the morally rotten way cannot survive. The challenge is to save the conditions of life on this planet to save human and other species; to change the course of history. As educated and organized working class it is our duty to fulfill our aspirations, learn to direct our energies to build a just society based on equality, where everyone can live with dignity. It is our duty to safe-guard the collective assets of the society and to oppose all such policies which aggrandize the private profit and impoverish the multitude of teeming millions. Let’s pledge on this day to built united movement of the working class to make a new world order a reality. May Day Zindabad! May Day Zindabad !!
With May Day Greetings
